We Recall the Reaction, Not the Tragedy

Loss, Misfortune, & Tragedy are most unwelcome visitors

Oh, to the fortunate, they are but strangers

Voices swelling, the three are familiar thieves to me

Eager to intrude, they arrive without warning

Ordinary days yield to these most unwelcome visitors

Rather than look away, we may do well to look within

For Loss, Misfortune, & Tragedy carry telling mirrors

Every act of selfishness, every act of kindness, we see

And how shall we act when faced with such intruders

Responses in time of trial are reflections of you and me
